Everyone wants to know the ‘secrets’ to saving money instead of doing the obvious which is not spending any to begin with. We all want to live our lives and buy things that we need and want. So what is the craziest thing that you have ever done or thought of to save a buck?
In today’s age most of us have felt a financial crunch coming down on us and if you haven’t, then consider yourself very lucky and fortunate. Some of us had to resort to doing some extreme things to make ends meet. If you are not in jail, that means the ‘crazy’ things that you did were legal which is what we would like to share with you today.
The items that we have listed below to help save you money for some people can seem crazy. Here are some of crazy money saving ideas that actually work if you are willing to make the sacrifice.
Crazy Saving Idea #1: Saving (Free) Condiments To Use at Home
Do you throw away condiments you get from fast food joints or restaurants? Maybe you shouldn’t because keeping those ketchup packets will keep you from throwing USD$3 to USD$5 for that big bottle of ketchup from the supermarket. Most times you do not even need all of that ketchup. Who eats a quart of Ketchup anyway? Okay, maybe you do but what it all comes down to is to eliminate spending extra on the ‘add-ons’ in the pantry. Fill your empty ketchup, mustard and even mayo bottles with those packets that restaurants give out for free anyway. Don’t let pride get to you, you could be saving a lot of money here.
Crazy Saving Idea #2: Giving up Smoking
It is time that you put that cigarette out and commit to stop smoking or limit your smoking. Smoking is one habit that can be very difficult to break. Trust me, I know first-hand. The fact of the matter is cigarettes costs lots of money. It may not seem like a lot to dish out USD$3 to USD$5 for a pack of drags but in the end you would have spent over USD$1,000 in a years time if you do enough smoking. That is enough money to pay for an overseas trip or buy that new flat screen TV you have been looking at in the store. Breaking the habit will help keep you from breaking your bank. Think it over!
Crazy Saving Idea #3: Eat Less
Have you been stuffing your face until your stomach is about to rupture? Could it be that it is time that you ate less, lose some weight and save some money at the same time. In America, everyone wants everything fast and in abundance and they end up over eating. You fix large meals that can feed an army when you could have cut it down to a quarter of the size and still be content. A large percentage of a family’s money goes to the grocery bill and if we simply ate less you could drastically reduce the amount you spend at the register. Not to mention, your health will improve by eating less provided you are supplying your body with the necessary nutrients. Using up that stockpile that you have in the pantry is also a great idea instead of buying MORE food.
Crazy Saving Idea #4: Stop or Limit Drinking Alcoholic Beverages
Indulging on extracurricular activities such as drinking may be draining your wallet and you not even know it. Alcoholic drinks can be very expensive and if you make it a weekly habit of going out with the guys, or girls, then chances are you can be saving a significant amount of money by taking advantage of the 2 for 1′s or maybe cutting out drinking altogether. Not only is drinking alcoholic beverages bad for your health, but it can amount to thousands of dollars every year. Drinking alcohol can also be an expensive nuisance because you may need to pay for a ride home after having a few-to-many. That’s even more money you can be saving by driving yourself home SOBER! Don’t end up with a DUI, now you are asking for even more trouble with the law and potentially some hefty lawyer fees if, God forbid, you end up having an accident and hurting someone.
